CoSN released its 2026 Driving K–12 Innovation report in February, highlighting hurdles, accelerators, and tech enablers in education technology. The report was compiled by an advisory board of about 130 members from 14 countries and 32 U.S. states plus D.C. At the 2026 CoSN Annual Conference in Chicago, IT leaders discussed the report’s findings and shared district examples.

Key Points

  • Report outlines hurdles like staffing, security, and media challenges in K-12 education.
  • Advisory board includes international and U.S. experts for diverse perspectives.
  • Conference panel featured IT leaders illustrating report themes with real-world examples.

Implications for Educational Freedom

This report on edtech trends could indirectly support educational freedom by enabling innovative tools for school choice and parental involvement in customized learning. However, it lacks direct focus on vouchers, ESAs, or parental rights.
