Iowa School Choice Hypocrisy Map
(State Senator - D)
Senator Mathis advocated very pointedly (Jan 2021 legislative session) for district schools and asserted that school choice legislation would indicate an “abandonment” of those schools. But, she sent her own child to a private school; a luxury most families can’t afford for their students.
(State Representative - R)
Representative Siegrist opposes school choice measures that would give families more options for educating their children. But, he sent his own children to private school–a choice he made, presumably, because he felt that was best for his kids. Why not allow all families the choice of where and how their children are educated, like he did himself?
