Professor Baker has been an outspoken opponent of school choice measures and programs for years. He stirred controversy in 2011 when he was exposed for seemingly offering to conduct research that would produce any desired outcome in exchange for money. That same year, he published a blog post wherein he admitted that he sends his own children to private schools.

A 2015 article in a local New Jersey paper points out that Governor Murphy sent all of his children to a private school. But, he strictly opposes school choice programs for families less fortunate than him.
